Carnegie Wave Energy Ltd has developed a “point absorber” wave energy system called CETO™. The CETO™ system distinguishes itself from most other wave energy devices by operating out of sight underwater, where it is less impacted by storms. Fully submerged buoys drive pumps and generators that are contained offshore, within the buoy itself. The buoys move in harmony with the motion of the passing waves, driving the pumps. The system is modular, so any number of units can be added to the array to meet increased energy demand.
Power is delivered back to shore through subsea cables to power desalination plants as well as for export into the grid.
